Original 1969 Ford 428 Police Interceptor engine lower end. A little over a year ago, I bought a 1969 F100 Ranger pick up truck at a classic vehicle auction. The truck is in excellent condition with only 39,000 documented miles. This engine was supposedly installed in 1975 and the truck was parked in a collection in 1986. I drove the truck about 1,200 miles then pulled the engine to repair more or less minor leaks and to identify what the engine truly is. The truck ran fine, no smoke or noise, plenty of power. No way to say how many miles on engine, but by looking at internal condition, not many. I've purchased gaskets and seals, etc and had planned to just clean up and reinstall. The rear main seal did not leak and I have strongly considered reinstalling engine with rear main as is.
Though, again no way to verify mileage, the engine was said to have been installed in 1975, inspection records show that truck had somewhere around 21,000 miles on it in 1975 according to inspection certificates, it now has 39,211. The truck was owned by and I assume, then, that this engine was installed at Steelman Motor Company of Boonville, NC. Possibly Sr's truck? It has certainly not been a work truck. Stock car racing fans, especially might want to Google Steelman Motor Co and research their drivers.
I'm now offering the complete lower end, cylinder block with what appears to be original bore in very good condition with nearly imperceptible ridge in cylinders, original pistons and rods, cam, lifters and 1UB crank with flex plate and harmonic balancer for sale. I have complete engine from air cleaner to oil pan but offered here is the lower end only. This engine does not need any machine work or rebuild. It can be run as is or you can build to suit starting with the best there is to offer. As I already have said, I do have the rest of the engine and the buyer will be given very reasonable options to purchase the rest if so desired. The engine has a Jan 1969 date code, 'C' scratch on back, partial vin # on pad on left rear and 428 visible in water jacket. It's all good and it is not likely that many more like it are available for sale either.
